Yep, he's running off the original ortho flex idea, with variations perhaps, it was a good idea and works OK.
Len Brown started it after his cross country ride based on his efforts to eliminate saddle soreness.
Now he claims his corrector is better,…
Yep, knowing how to train for safety is a great big confidence builder. Clint anderson and Marv Walker are the best two I know of. Marv is cheaper but not as well organized and not quite as people pleasing personality.
And the training is quite enjo…
I started out wanting as perfect a fit as posible for the horse, knowing the longer the ride is the better the fit needs to be. And since I'm a potentual long rider, (mentally anyway)
I've been through the process and took my time doing it, (sence a…
I think the tacky pads are quite cool due to all the holes in them. I like them for their anti slip properties. I saw a number of round skirt tackys at bedford tack, under $50 I think.
But I always use a corrector pad under whatever else is used. Th…
well now, I prefer living as far out in the country as I can get, cuttin wood, growin food, and playin with horses with neighbors a mile away is't too bad a life. But yah, TN is a good place to live, if it gets too crowded in a few decades I'd be te…
Looks like a nice place to stop on the way through sometime. I'll have to keep it in mind.
That's why I like this horse I'm getting better than others, he'll walk slower when I want to. A horse capable of speed with ease and smoothness is really fu…
Might be fun. I looked, and I wonder, just how rough is it? it can't be any worse than what I got a few dozen miles south on the same mountain. And 6-7 miles seems kind of short. Fraid my new horse would wipe that out in less than an hour and be rea…
Your probably looking for a TWH, as they are good horses generally and some are gaited quite smooth, and by far the most commen round these parts. Or option of rocky mtn or Mo fox trotter or paso fino.
I started looking at the gaited horse world aro…
Yep, I bought that book long time ago when persueing my quest for training knowlege (before we got internet) Another interesting one was "Western Training" by Jack Brainard. I also got the book by Al Dunning on training the reining horse. Along with…
typical TN weather, I been in tn sence around 1965 and it's typical to have serious mudd after the ground gets saturated and a few freeze and thaw cycles loosen it up. I would contend we live in rain forest climate part time.
Further north it freeze…
after delay on top of delay, including equipment problems and a car title in limbo, I finally got the title in the mail and the skid steer stayed fixed for one day at least. (so I can actually get something done) It's time to put car on auction and…
That is exactly what the 'american trail horse association' does, a certification program for performance levels for trail horses. with 7 levels of training recognized. 1st level is basicly what I'd call green broke, and the 7th level is the ultamat…
Reuben, I live close to Why Not Ranch and a bunch of us ride there all the time. Let me know when you're ready and we'll plan a ride or a camping trip.
Hi Reuben, I've read some of your comments on natural health for our horses. That is an area of real interest for me. I believe our Creator put everything here we needed to get and stay healthy. I have a horse that is hard to put weight on. I've done the vet thing, payed a lot of money for him and medicine. Found 3 big beans and said he had a bladder infection. I'm feeding him Senior feed even though he is only 10 and giving him electrolytes to help with water, energy, etc. I also gave him a tube of probiotics. Most people think he looks good. I have had horses all my life and own 6 at present, so I don't think I'm being to picky. He is a great horse and has energy when ridden, comes in strong and very competitive. What do you think?
Blessings,LInda
Thanks for the opinion I really appreciate all advice. You mentioned somthing about a breed of gaited horses that are still selling well, I was wondering if you would give me a little more info about these horses?
That's a shame that the mustang club is no longer active. I was an active member from about 1984-1994, had a matching pair of bay mustangs, rode on the drill team and showed, and traveled around some to promote the mustang breed. I thought the club did a lot to promote the BLM mustangs and to show what great horses they are.
Hi Reuben--I live in White co. and would be interested in riding in White, Warren and Cannon cos. I've done some riding at the base of Spencer Mt. not far off Hwy 111. I'm just trying to get started back to riding after a serious injury and would do well with a few short rides to get me started. Might you be interested in another mustang? I just had someone offer me one just to give it a good home.
I would love to hear about your mustangs - I had a matching pair for about 20-25 years - they were the best horses I ever had. Do you know anything about the mustang club that used to meet at the adoptions center - they used to have shows and a drill team and I used to be very involved in all that. Thanks! Jeannie C.
