I work with a string of 13 trail horses in NE TN and they are either barefoot or booted with Epic boots. The ones in boots have metabolic issues or are transitioning from being poorly shod for a long time. Best, Kathy

Hi Dawn, I have found that chipping is generally the hoof's way of getting rid of excess wall. Does your farrier/trimmer keep a nice rolled or beveled edge to the hoof wall? That helps! Kathy

Kathy, I am coming to your neck of the woods tomorrow......to Banks Farms Campgrounds? They are having the Southern Draft Animal Days event there Friday and Saturday.....Me and our farm manager Susan are bringing two of our young Mammoth jennets to the event. How does the weather look for the weekend? We will be staying at the Super 8 in Bulls Gap.......We are coming all the way from Martin, TN.....hopefully our "girls" will not be too tired after the trip.......if you have the time, come by and see us, if it is not raining:-) Deb and the longears (you will be able to find us since we will have the only Mammoth Jackstock there) Here's my cell number - 731-514-4068 - it would be great to meet you!
