FSCU to hold 5th annual Trail Ride to benefit The American Cancer Society

Family Security Credit Union anxiously awaits Saturday November 14, 2009; they will hold the 5th annual Cowboy Up For a Cure Trail Ride at KC Ranch in Double Springs, Alabama. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and riders will leave out at 9:00 a.m. Proceeds from the trail ride will benefit the American Cancer Society.

For those people who wish to bring their beautiful horses and ride the cost is $25.00. The Picture Lady will be available this year to make pictures while you enjoy the beautiful trails at KC Ranch. For those who do not want to ride but would like to come out to the event for lunch and entertainment the cost is $15.00. Every participant will receive a goody bag from Family Security Credit Union and a t-shirt provided by Winston Farmers CO-OP. Door prizes will also be given away throughout the event.

After the ride, a delicious meal will be served complete with dessert and a beverage. Then sit back, relax, grab a bag of complimentary popcorn and get ready to bid! This year’s auction to benefit The American Cancer Society will be a fun filled live auction; following the auction to benefit The American Cancer Society we will have a tack auction After the auctions we will take a few minutes to set up for our entertainment for the evening. We will feature The Heaton Brothers Band, so bring your dancing boots and get ready to boot scoot boogie!

For those of you who will not be able to join us this year we invite you to make a donation to The American Cancer Society in honor or in memory of a special loved one. Your donations can be mailed to Family Security Credit Union, Attention: Debra McCaghren, 2204 Family Security Place, Decatur, AL 35603. Your loved one will be recognized in a special way at the event.
The Cowboy Up For a Cure trail ride is one of the largest fundraising events that Family Security Credit Union hosts annually. The event has been successful over the past three years due to the dedication and determination of our team members.


As always Ken and Carol McDonald, the owners of KC Ranch play a big part in the success of the trail ride. Ken tells me that as this event becomes more known, the campgrounds fill up quickly. We are 2 ½ months away and many reservations have already been made. The ranch has a cabin, and the pavilion that is fully enclosed with windows and a fireplace. Camping facilities are available at KC Ranch at an additional cost. Nice bath houses, full hookups as well as primitive camping sites and covered stalls are available. You may make your reservations by calling 205-489-5474. Camp sites are limited so reserve your site early.

The Alabama Farmers Cooperative will be a title sponsor for 2009 event, and Corporate America will sponsor lunch. As November 14, 2009 approaches, please mark your calendar and make plans to attend the 2009 Cowboy Up For a Cure trail ride. Come join Family Security for a fun filled day. Cancer continues to take its toll on people of all ages: babies, toddlers, adolescents, young adults, and mature adults. The battle to fight the disease can be long and difficult. The victims of the disease do the hard part; suffer from the pain caused by the disease, take the treatment, endure the sickness from the side effects, yet they continue to fight! Will you please help Family Security do the easier part, find the cure? You can make a difference.
