It's a great parade to attend, however they are now taking applications for anyone who wants to participate in the parade (Call Roy Snow 615 799-9254). They usually have 30+ horses in the parade, open to anyone with a horse. ;-)
LEIPER'S FORK COMMUNITY -- Celebrities will in the parade, followed by an array of antique cars and tractors, decorated wagons and buggies, motorcycles, floats of scout troops, cheerleaders, performers, businesses, and local luminaries, as well as horses, tamed pigs, Shetland ponies, chickens, goats, and, of course, Santa on a fire truck as the grand finale.
The parade steps off at 2 p.m.
The parade, which is entering its fifth year, has always been a big deal for the locals involved, but started off with fairly modest attendance. Anne Goetze, co-owner of R Place Gallery/Book Store, remarked, “I remember the first year when there were more people in the parade than there were people watching it”.
According to Roy Snow, last year there were 98 entrants in the parade and this year it appears there will be at least that many.
“This is the second largest Williamson County parade and we’re trying to make it the largest”, says Snow. He and his fellow parade organizers have asked that everyone who wishes to participate fill out an entry form, so the announcers will have enough info to, well, announce the entries.
Anyone can register to participate in the parade – businesses, individuals, families, community or social groups, musicians, kids’ groups.
The staging area for parade entrants will be the Preston Farm field; assembly will begin at 12:30 p.m. For more information or to download parade entry forms, call Roy Snow at (615) 799-9254 or go to www.leipersforkvillage.com and click on the Events page. You may also pick up entry forms at Serenite Maison, R Place, and the Leiper’s Creek Art Gallery.
